Lena Hydara

Ms. Lena Hydara started her education at St.Joseph’s Primary School (Ndow’s) where she passed her Common Entrance Examination and got admitted into Gambia High School. From there, she pursued higher education in the United Kingdom.
 
Subsequently, Ms. Lena enrolled in the University of The Gambia where she graduated with an LL.B and was subsequently called to The Gambian Bar. 
 
As a result of having a great interest in human rights advocacy, she volunteered at the Female Lawyers Association – Gambia (FLAG), a non-profit making organisation and later became the Coordinator.  FLAG operates a Legal Aid Clinic, provides advocacy on the rights of women and children and raise awareness on same. Ms. Hydara started her legal career as an intern with Temple Legal Practitioners. Her experience cuts across media and public relations, marketing and customer care services.
 
Being an avid writer, Ms. Hydara was awarded recognition for this with the publication of her short stories in national newspapers, organisational newsletters and magazines.
 
She is the current Head of Legal and Company Secretary at Access Bank (Gambia) Limited where she handles the Bank’s legal affairs and corporate governance.
